I am looking for a new career. I have been a secretary for a large business for over 10 years. I just lost my job last week and have decided that I no longer want to do that kind of work anymore. I wonder if everyone works as hard as I do. Well, anyway, studying is my best ticket to getting higher grades. Graduating as top of the class would surely garner me more opportunities in getting local nursing jobs. I need to work really hard because I would be having a lot of competitions for the best positions in the hospitals. Immersing myself into the healthcare industry was a good decision, but I need to be firm on what I decided. I need to make sure I get into the best hospital with the biggest salary offer a nurse can get. I was never one to settle with just “okay”.

I am a medical student that is just about to earn an MD. I want to go on one of these Haiti mission trips. There is such need everywhere. I want to go where my skills will be used and tested. I am in good shape and can hike up a mountainside with a huge pack or two wit medical supplies. I have wilderness survival training and am recently out of the military. Nothing much ruffles my feathers so I am ready to help where I can. For some of my colleagues it is all about the money. I understand that. I have the huge student loans too. I have friends who are planning on big careers in plastic surgery in Hollywood. I wish them the best. I am more suited to sewing someone up while they are on a makeshift gurney in a dirty hut. I did that a lot as a medic. In fact, I was called on more than once to get right up to the point where I would be exceeding my training. That is why I went for the MD a little later than some.
