A screw compressor is used for transferring dry materials like sand, cement, silicate and lime. The body has two other forms of screw typically known as the male screw with convex inlet and the female screw with the concave inlet. This type of compressor operates in reverse direction. The female screw is responsible in the receipt of driving power while male screw will transmit that power as it passes by the synchronization gears. Further, there are three specific types of screw compressor namely: rotary screw compressors, oil-flooded screw compressors and oil-free screw compressors. The rotary crew belong to the family of gas compressors and is mostly seen in construction sites being used on trailers run by diesel. Oil-flooded screw is useful in cooling and sealing of gas charges while the oil-free screw is commonly used in semiconductor and medical industries. Screw compressors can be used in several applications like the electric motor and hydraulic power systems.
